The European Mela Network supports the development of Melas in Europe. The main activities are:
The organisation is still in its infancy and it is vital that it has a strong membership in order to survive into the future. We are inviting you to join this organisation to receive the following benefits:
EMN is in touch with funders and other stakeholders to highlight the importance of melas to community cohesion, celebration of a diverse society and mutual respect and understanding. EMN plans to commission research which will look at the impact of melas on society and the economy.
EMN is committed to providing opportunities to its members to undertake training and to hone skills and experience. Training programmes will be developed through consultation with members.
EMN can facilitate communication amongst members, encouraging the sharing of useful skills and information. Collaboration will be encouraged, which can have a beneficial impact on resources. EMN will look into other benefits such as preferential rates for group insurance, etc. Forums for member communication will be established within the website.
EMN plans to distribute information to its membership regularly on opportunities via email newsletters and the website.
This website will act as a focal point for Mela activity in Europe. Each Mela will be featured and full Mela listings will be available. Press releases can also be made available. There is a members’ area, which features a members’ forum to allow for information exchange and handy information guides.
This is facilitated on a regional and national level, with a network meeting taking place once a year and an annual regional meeting of Mela representatives in each region. EMN wishes to develop a culture of mutual support amongst its members and particularly wishes to strengthen relationships and regional co-operation.
